Chao Fan & Siomai a la Chowking

A delicious and easy recipe to hack your favorite fast food chao fan!

Chao Fan
 3 tbsp cooking oil
 1 onionfinely chopped
 2 tbsp minced garlic
 1 cup ground pork
 1 bell pepperfinely chopped
 ¼ cup finely chopped carrots
 salt and pepperto taste
 1 tsp chili powder
 1 tsp curry powder
 6 cups cooked rice
 ½ cup kangkong leaves
 1 tbsp oyster sauce
 2 eggsbeaten
 2 tsp scallionschopped
Siomai
 ½ kg ground pork
 ½ cup shrimpminced
 1 cup water chestnutsminced
 5 tbsp sesame oil
 ½ cup minced onion
 ½ cup minced carrots
  cup minced scalllions
 ½ tbsp black pepper
 1 tsp salt
 1 egg
 1 pack wonton wrapper
Garnish
 soy sauce
 calamansi
 chili oil

Heat up oil over medium heat. Saute onion and garlic. Once translucent and fragrant, add ground pork.

Once meat is almost cooked, add bell pepper and carrots. Season with salt, pepper, chili powder and curry powder.

Mix in cooked rice and kangkong leaves. Add oyster sauce. Mix well.

Make a well in the center. Beat the eggs here until most form into curds. Mix everything together.

Turn off heat and stir in green onions.

Mix everything together (except for the wonton wrappers)

Wrap about a tablespoon of the mixture in a wonton wrapper. Secure with water.

Steam the siomai for 15-25 minutes.

Serve with soy sauce, calamansi and chili.
