Japan Home Centre, the country’s first and original 88-peso store is offering to trade onions with selected products. This unusual transaction was announced on the discount store’s FB page and in an IG post. It’ll will happen for only 1 day, on February 4, Saturday at the store’s biggest branch located along Panay Avenue in Quezon City.
The trade-off will include one (1) onion for 1 JHC item, and it will be limited to 3 items per customer. While it wasn’t mentioned on the posts if either red or white onions are both accepted (although we can safely assume they both are), the collected onions will be used for the company’s community pantry.
With more than 200 branches nationwide, Japan Home Centre is one of the country’s fastest growing retailers offering a wide range of lifestyle products at affordable prices. While they’re latest promotion may seem audacious and humorous to a degree, the recent soaring price of onions isn’t a laughing matter to many Filipinos.
