It has been 90 years since Skippy was first created and the brand is still beloved all over the world! Households have enjoyed it not just as a breakfast or snack staple but also as an indelible ingredient for dishes that need a taste of good-quality peanut butter!
To mark its 90th year, Skippy tapped celebrity chef, cookbook author, and restaurateur Chef Tatung to make 3 incredible Skippy creations that would be offered in a limited run in his Quezon City restaurant, Azadore.
The savory dishes are: Spicy Peanut Chicken Pizza, a flatbread topped with chicken tikka strips, veggies, and an Indian-inspired butter chicken sauce; and Chicken Satay Burger with Hoisin Peanut Butter, a delightful sandwich made with juicy chicken satay layered with coleslaw and hoisin peanut butter in a toasted brioche bun.
The Skippy dessert shouldn’t be missed either. Chef Tatung created a Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake, a scrumptious 3-layer chocolate cake layered with decadent chocolate-peanut butter buttercream icing.
“I just had fun with Skippy. I wanted to create dish[es] that’s not very traditional but entirely flavorful and exciting. Something one would not think of when craving peanut butter,” Chef Tatung said about his Skippy creations.
Chef Tatung even shared a childhood tidbit about how excited he was to have sandwiches made with Skippy as his baon. Skippy has remained a staple ingredient in his pantry ever since.
The collaboration with Skippy is also an opportune partnership with Chef Tatung since it made perfect sense with his mission to highlight the essence of culinary traditions and innovation, which he exemplifies in Azadore.
During a special event to showcase the Skippy creations they also invited the winner of the Skippy of Skippy’s nationwide contest, Jenny Anne Casintahan. Her dish, Grilled Pork Kare-Kare, won the grand prize.
